Executive Team

Executive terms will be renewed every January.  (Want to volunteer or nominate someone?)

Christie Goode
     President

Christie is the founding president of Early in the DAE Toastmasters Club, and in her other life is Research Manager in the Advancement/Operations division. She joined the club because she knew from her previous experience with Toastmasters that “it was soooo good for her” and hey, what could be better than Toastmasters + an easy, convenient time and location + getting to know her colleagues better? Christie’s favorite part of Toastmasters is hearing the amazing responses people come up with for Table Topics.

Kim Gordon
  VP of Education

Kim is the VP Education of the Early in the DAE Toastmasters club and in her UBC life she has just joined the Faculty of Law as an Associate Director of Development. Kim has been aware of Toastmasters for many years and when the opportunity to join a club that was right on her working doorstep at UBC she grabbed it and joined. She is not only improving her speaking and presentation proficiency she is learning how to conduct effective meetings and is honing her leadership skills. Toastmasters International provides its members with a well structured support system and access to exceptional resources. The best part of the club is the weekly interaction and team building with other members of the DAE team. The energy in the room is contagious, and laughter is always the best way to start a “DAE”.

Cindy Goundrey
    Treasurer

Cindy likes having her hands in the money :), which is why she volunteered to be our faithful Treasurer. Her role outside ‘Early in the DAE’ is Director of the VP’s Office. One of the unexpected delights she finds in being part of ‘Early in the DAE’ is the fun factor! That is a testament to each and every person in the room. She is absolutely blown away by the talent within the group and treasures the time and space, getting to know every person as an individual and gaining a better sense of where everyone fits in the organization. She joined to build skills to public speak with confidence and to think on her feet. Funny enough, she also had Toastmasters in her PD plan for 2010/11 so when Phil and Christie introduced the idea to DAE, it was a sign…that the time was now. Cheers to fun-filled learning!

Philippe (Phil) Gérard
Founder, and Former Sergeant of Arms

Phil played a key role in founding the club for us.  He is also our former Sergeant at Arms, responsible for Club property management, meeting room preparation and hospitality.

Phil used to be the DAE’s Recruitment Specialist, where he used fundraising methodology such as relationship building and cultivation to identify and recruit the best talent for the University of British Columbia’s Development and Alumni Engagement portfolio.  But in September 2011 he left us for another… yes, he’s moved to that other university up on the mountain.
