The TM Program

Here’s a summary on how Toastmasters works:

    • When you join any Toastmaster club, you receive 2 workbooks titled Competent Communicator and Competent Leadership
    • The Competent Communicator workbook contains 10 chapters, each providing valuable information on a specific aspect of public speaking
    • Each chapter requires you to prepare and deliver a 4 to 8 minute speech; the speech topic is up to you; you work at your own pace
    • When you complete all 10 speeches you receive your Competent Communicator award
    • After this, higher levels of public speaking may be achieved within Toastmasters, including Advanced Communicator Bronze, Advanced Communicator Silver and Advanced Communicator Gold
    • The Competent Leadership workbook provides specific lessons in leadership that can be learned by performing one of the weekly meeting roles
    • When you complete these lessons you receive your Competent Leader award
    • After this, higher levels of leadership may be achieved within Toastmasters including Advanced Leader Bronze and Advanced Leader Silver
    • When you achieve Advanced Leader Silver and Advanced Communicator Gold, you recieve your DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) which is the highest award offered by Toastmasters.
